There's profound wisdom in Lise Bourbeau's teachings on the five emotional wounds. In Rolle, when I meet a client for the first time, we often explore which of these five wounds has shaped their vision of themselves and the world.
Because an emotional wound isn't just passing sadness. It's a conclusion your psyche has drawn about yourself and about life. And this conclusion directs your choices, often unconsciously, for years.
Signature: "I'm not worthy of being seen."
The wound of rejection surfaces when you felt that your very existence was undesirable. Not just your actions—but YOU, simply you.
This might come from a parent who didn't really see you. Or who acted like your presence was a burden. Or who rejected you when you needed help.
How it shows up now:
The hidden gift: People with this wound healed become wonderful guides for other invisible people. Because they know how to really see someone.
Signature: "I'm not enough for someone to stay."
Abandonment is different from rejection. It's when someone—usually a parent—was physically or emotionally absent. Or left when you needed them most.
It can also happen if a parent was too absorbed in their own drama to be present for you.
How it shows up now:
The hidden gift: People who've healed from abandonment develop a remarkable capacity to love deeply while respecting independence.
Signature: "I'm ashamed of what I am."
Humiliation comes from being treated degradingly. Maybe a parent ridiculed or shamed you in public. Or controlled you rigidly.
This wound says: "Your body, your desires, your way of being—that's bad."

The hidden gift: These people, when they heal, develop authentic discipline and the capacity to honor their body and others' bodies.
Signature: "You can't trust the world."
Betrayal happens when someone you trusted—usually a parent or important figure—lied to you, stole from you, or deliberately hurt you.
This creates fundamental distrust. You expect to be betrayed because you were.
How it shows up now:
The hidden gift: People with this wound healed become the most loyal and honest. Because they understand the cost of betrayal.
Signature: "The world isn't fair and I must control it."
Injustice happens when you were treated unfairly without explanation. Or punished without reason. Or when someone else got something you deserved.
This wound creates an obsession with fairness and justice.
How it shows up now:
The hidden gift: These people, when they heal, become powerful advocates for fairness and justice. They have the courage to say no to injustice.
Working with my clients in Vaud, I've noticed that most have one dominant wound—the one that shaped their life most strongly.
Here's how to identify it:
That conclusion—that's your wound.
Because once you name your wound, you can finally see how it's directed your life.
You can see your choice of partner, your professional fears, your relational patterns—all through this lens.
And that clarity is liberating. Because a named wound can be healed.
Each of these wounds has a specific healing process. And often, they're interwoven—healing one helps heal the others.
But the first step is always the same: recognize. See. Name.
"Ah, there it is. That wound has been running my life."
And from that moment, you've already begun to free yourself from it.
At MC-TERRA, I accompany people in Rolle and throughout French-speaking Switzerland to identify their fundamental emotional wounds and heal them deeply. Whether through family constellations, emotional coaching, or NLP, we work together to transform these wounds into wisdom and strength.
