The enneagram is much more than a simple personality test. It's a genuine inner map that reveals your deep motivations, your core fears, and your automatic strategies. When you understand your type, you understand why you always react the same way in certain situations.
The enneagram describes 9 personality types, each with its own worldview, strengths, and shadow areas. Unlike typical tests that put you in a box, the enneagram shows you a path of growth.
Each type is defined by three axes:
What makes the enneagram unique is that it doesn't describe what you do, but why you do it. Two people can have the same behavior for completely different reasons.
| Type | Name | Motivation | Fear |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Perfectionist | Doing it right | Making mistakes |
| 2 | The Helper | Being loved | Rejection |
| 3 | The Achiever | Success | Failure |
| 4 | The Individualist | Being authentic | Ordinariness |
| 5 | The Investigator | Understanding | Incompetence |
| 6 | The Loyalist | Security | Danger |
| 7 | The Enthusiast | Freedom | Suffering |
| 8 | The Challenger | Control | Vulnerability |
| 9 | The Peacemaker | Maintaining peace | Conflict |
Each type has its strengths and pitfalls. None is better than another. The goal isn't to change types, but to become conscious of your automatic patterns to gain freedom.

In session, the enneagram becomes a concrete tool. It allows you to get straight to what matters instead of circling around symptoms.
Identify your repetitive patterns. Why do you react the same way in certain situations? Why do the same conflicts keep coming up? The enneagram illuminates these automatic responses by showing the fear that activates them.
Understand your relationships. Why do certain people irritate you while others attract you? Each type has friction zones with other types. Understanding this can transform your relationships.
Move past your blocks. When you understand the mechanism, you can choose a different response. Instead of reacting, you can act. That's where true freedom begins.
The enneagram doesn't tell you who you are. It shows you what's preventing you from being fully yourself.
It's important to clarify: the enneagram doesn't lock you into a box. It shows you where you are today and where you can go tomorrow. It's a starting point for deep work, not an end in itself.
At MC-TERRA, the enneagram is used as one of the support tools, combined with NLP, family constellations, and other approaches for comprehensive, personalized work.
